The ski road trip of a lifetime is officially underway. First stop COLORADO! I’ve been dreaming of this day since I started this channel and our first ski resort on the journey is Telluride. Telluride is the wild west of Colorado ski destinations and it’s the highest mountain I’ve ever skied. My lungs almost exploded hiking the 13,319 feet or 4060 meters in-bounds sanctioned terrain up Black Iron Bowl & Palmyra peak. The views at Telluride were some of the best I’ve ever seen and my jaw was hitting the snow every single turn. From wicked steeps to groomed run perfection, Telluride had a little bit off everything. I was so happy to see that the terrain in America is just as gnarly and lawless as our Canadian ski mountains. The mountain town of Telluride is also insanely cool. Wifi access in the van is tough so I can’t do as many edits as I normally would. The 3 mu-ski-teers are back and of course we had to bum around the Blackcomb Backcountry. I pooped myself the skiing was so good. WARNING: Poop Chutes is a very dangerous backcountry avalanche path that requires optimal conditions and appropriate gear. Do not attempt to ski it from the resort. On my final day at SilverStar I chased around Canadian National Team Slopestyle & Big Air Skier Tate Garrod around his home resort. He showed me some wicked pockets of the resort and I followed him off a few classic hits. I couldn’t believe how this 21 year old moves his body on skis. And this was his rest day… I’d be scared to watch him compete. SilverStar Mountain Resort is simply magical. Last season, I was buzzing about the ski terrain, interior snow quality and lack of crowds. But, what I didn't know is how amazing staying in the village would be. This place is a winter activity lovers dream.
