A-Basin is absolutely legendary. Crazy Joe was right when he said it would be my favourite I-70 resort. Arapahoe Basin is the locals favourite in Colorado for good reason. The terrain is expansive and steep with striking views and an unmatched vibe. Unlike almost every other ski resort in America, Arapahoe Basin has managed to hold on to that old school mountain heart that all of us skiers know, love and are deeply deprived of. They are 100% on our team (unlike the big conglomerates) and push hard to open first in the US and close last. I’m already itching to come back on a better snow year so I can ski every line on the East wall, but mainly so I can have another brisket sandwich at the lodge. I’ve had enough hard pack. Today were getting high (3,964m high that is) at North America's highest Ski Resort, Breckenridge Colorado. I always thought Breck was flat... Telluride has the highest hike accessed in-bounds terrain on Palmyra Peak at 4,060m. But, Breckenridge has the highest lift accessed terrain at 3,914m with an additional boot pack reaching 3,964m. The word Vail gives me the ick, and it's legendary for all the wrong reasons. But man does this Colorado ski resort go hard. It’s not overly steep, overly scenic, but it is absolutely ginormous and the village is a trip. Today I skied Aspen Highlands and my best to keep up with Aspen Colorado’s biggest legend, "Temerity Tommy". Aspen Highlands looks small on a trail map but parks a gnarly punch. Everything from top to bottom is steep and the Deep Temerity chair is magic if you like skiing bumps, trees and unlimited vert. The Highlands bowl is also absolutely legendary and is home to some of the best views and sustained steep skiing in the state. Don’t sleep on Highlands if you ever make it out to Aspen! Aspen is one of the most famous (and expensive) ski destinations in the world and today the brokest bloke in town is skiing the biggest of the 4 resorts, Snowmass. Prior to yesterday, I had never heard of Crested Butte. But, thankfully I got tipped off. How could I miss America's steepest man-made & tree defined trail. Crested Butte is absolutely legendary and is the perfect ski resort to burn some ass. I was once again blown away by the amount of extreme and lawless terrain at these Colorado ski resorts. The dust on crust in the morning felt phenomenal and the steeps were sporty. When the Peak opens up, that must be one of the most legendary in-bounds runs in America. Rambo however was equally as legendary, for all the wrong reasons. It is America’s steepest man-made tree defined trail. It has a 55 degree pitch and due to the complete lack of snow and unlimited amounts of roots, rocks and hazards, this might be America's scariest run too. Watch me billy goat down it so you never have to try. Crested Butte rates super high on my list of amazing resorts, it’s got a little something for everyone.
